  Fire Inspector-I

The Fire Inspector may be a civilian or a member of the fire department whose duties include conducting inspections.

An inspector is a person who has the training and authority to inspect buildings, equipment and processes for the purpose of effecting conditions that are conducive to fire and life safety.

A well planned and executed fire prevention program is a far less expensive and more effective method of accomplishing the goal of the fire service.

Through observation and recommending solutions to eliminate hazardous conditions the fire inspector can make major strides toward accomplishing this goal.

The Fire Inspector I conducts basic fire inspections and interprets codes and standards.

Individuals at this level may include fire fighters who are normally assigned to fire suppression or other individuals whose primary responsibility is not fire inspection.
