Organization
of the Course |

This
40–hour course is designed to meet the objectives of Fire Inspector I. |
|
|
Prior
to engaging in training as a Fire Inspector I, the inspector candidate
must provide evidence of knowledge of characteristics and behavior of
fire, fire prevention principles, written and oral communications, public
relations, and basic mathematics. |
|
|
The
teaching outline follows the presentation order of the objectives used in
the standard. |
|
|
Every
question on the state certification exam is referenced to one of the
objectives listed above. |
|
Fire Inspector-I |
|
|
The
Fire Inspector may be a civilian or a member of the fire department whose
duties include conducting inspections. |
|
|
An inspector is a person who has
the training and authority to inspect buildings, equipment and processes
for the purpose of effecting conditions that are conducive to fire and
life safety. |
|
|
A
well planned and executed fire prevention program is a far less expensive and more effective method of accomplishing the goal of the fire service.
|
|
|
Through observation and recommending solutions to eliminate hazardous conditions the fire inspector can make major strides toward accomplishing
this goal. |
|
|
The
Fire Inspector I conducts basic fire inspections and interprets codes and standards. |
|
|
Individuals at this level may include fire fighters who are
normally assigned to fire suppression or other individuals whose primary
responsibility is not fire inspection. |
